Unlocking Performance & Recovery
Deep tissue and sports massage tailored for you.
RMT - Deep Tissue
While relaxation and therapeutic massages focus on stress relief and functional recovery, a deep tissue massage is a highly intense, physically demanding treatment designed to reshape and realign the deepest layers of your muscle and connective tissue.
It specifically targets chronic patterns of tension and rigid bands of tissue (known as “adhesions” or “knots”) that block circulation and limit movement.
Primary goal: Break up chronic knots and realign deep muscle layers.
Pressure Level: Firm to intense; slow, deliberate, heavy pressure.
Target Tissues: Sub-surface muscles, tendons, and deep fascia layers.
Sensation: Intense, “good hurt” discomfort; potential muscle soreness for 24–48 hours.
Best Used for: Athletic recovery, chronic lower back pain, severe neck/shoulder stiffness.
Key Differences to Keep in Mind
Technique: Relaxation uses long, gliding strokes. Deep tissue uses slower, stripping strokes and intense friction across the grain of the muscle fiber to physically break down tissue blockages.
The “Aftermath”: You will leave a relaxation massage feeling sleepy and loose. After a deep tissue massage, you will likely feel highly accomplished but physically tired, requiring plenty of water and rest to recover from the muscle manipulation.
