RMT - Hot Stone Massage
An RMT (Registered Massage Therapist) hot stone massage is a therapeutic treatment that uses smooth, heated volcanic basalt stones—typically warmed to 130–145°F—placed on specific parts of the body or used directly by the therapist as an extension of their hands to massage the muscles.
What Is It?
The Stones: Made of basalt, a volcanic rock that retains heat efficiently.
Placement & Technique: Stones are placed along the spine, palms, or legs, and the therapist uses them to glide, knead, and apply smooth pressure.
Key BenefitsDeep Muscle Relaxation: Heat penetrates multiple layers beneath the skin, loosening tight knots faster than hands alone.
Improved Circulation: Heat causes vasodilation (expanding blood vessels), boosting blood and lymph flow to flush out toxins and heal tissues.
Pain & Tension Relief: Eases chronic back/neck pain, arthritis stiffness, and fibromyalgia symptoms without requiring aggressive deep-tissue pressure.
Stress Reduction: Calms the nervous system, promotes endorphin release, and aids better sleep.
